Green Cover in Bihar Rises to 15.5%

Why in the news?
❖ Shravan Kumar, Rural Development Minister of Bihar, stated that the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Campaign has significantly improved environmental protection in the state.
Key highlights
❖ Under the campaign, about 212.5 million (21.25 crore) saplings have been planted.
❖ As a result, Bihar’s green cover has increased to 15.5%, with a target of 17% by 2028.
❖ During the financial year 2025–26, around 33.8 million (3.38 crore) saplings have already been planted.
